RPC Technologies opens site

The Minister for Manufacturing, Exports and Trade Richard Dalla-Riva officially opened the Geelong RPC Technologies site, located in the Geelong Ring Road Employment Precinct.

The 2nd of November was an exciting day for the RPC Managing Director Tony Caristo and his team. They proudly showcased their new facility for the Minister and the Mayor of Geelong Cr. John Mitchell.

RPC’s Geelong site is focused on developing solutions for the Transport, Industrial & Defense sectors.

The Geelong Ring Road Employment Precinct Prospectus was officially launched by Damien Drum, Parliamentary Secretary for Regional Development yesterday morning.

Mr Ryan unveiled the 16 page prospectus outlining the many benefits of GREP for growing businesses and investors.

City of Greater Geelong Mayor Cr John Mitchell said GREP provided a unique opportunity for developers to expand their operations in a strategic location.

Approximately 250 truckloads of soil are being excavated every day at a site near the Geelong Ring Road for a project with the potential to deliver 10,000 new jobs in the north of Geelong.

The earthworks will see the completion of stage one of the Geelong Ring Road Employment Precinct, or GREP - a major parcel of industrial land on the northern fringe of Geelong.

The City of Greater Geelong in partnership with the State Government and land owners is constructing a 115,000 cubic metre retarding basin and associated drainage pipeline as well as a heavy vehicle access road at O’Briens Road at the southern end of GREP.

The City of Greater Geelong hopes an industrial estate will bring thousands of jobs, writes Philip Hopkins.

THE Geelong Ring Road could drive a new era in economic growth by providing access to a 500-hectare industrial zone in the city's north.

The ring road forms the southern boundary of the new industrial estate, dubbed the Geelong Ring Road Employment Precinct. The first stage of building is only weeks from completion.

Scale
The GREP comprises of 500 hectares of industrial land zoned Industrial 1 and Industrial 2 Under the Victorian Planning Provisions, located to the north of Geelong.

Economy
The Geelong region is home to more than 20,000 business enterprises and a labour force of 135,000. In the past five years the Geelong labour force has grown by 11.7 per cent compared to 8.7 per cent for Victoria.

Location
The GREP is six kilometres from the Port of Geelong and 12 kilometres from Avalon Airport.

Access
The Princes Freeway north to Melbourne, West to other parts of Victoria and South Australia as well as south to other parts of the Geelong Region are accessible from GREP.

Jobs
The GREP has the potential to create 10,000 direct jobs once fully developed.
